In My Fada's House
In My Fada's House
Senior Collection — In My Fada’s House
In My Fada’s House is inspired by the home I grew up in, in Lagos, Nigeria, a home that was more than just a space; it was a character of its own. From bold animal-printed furniture to an entire section dedicated to a bar, I was constantly surrounded by my parents’ fearless approach to design.
As a child, I often felt embarrassed by how extravagant and unapologetically bold our apartment looked. But with time, I’ve come to deeply appreciate the creativity and individuality they expressed through those choices. Their boldness with prints became my earliest introduction to the power of visual storytelling through pattern, texture, and design.
The name In My Fada’s House reflects both the source of inspiration and cultural context. In Nigeria, a family home is often referred to as “Fada’s house,” since the father traditionally purchases the property and it is legally in his name. “Fada” is a Nigerian Pidgin English pronunciation of “father,” and I chose it to honor the rhythm and accent of home.
This collection is an ode to my childhood living room—its layered patterns, daring combinations, and the memories it holds. It represents my first encounter with prints and the foundation of my love for pushing boundaries in design.
